![]() ![]() I don’t mind Lakitu as a mario kart chatacter, but I do mind that Metal Mario and Honey Queen were added in favor of other characters. ![]() Instead they added Honey Queen, a character from Mario Galaxy who appeared in a couple levels in that game, and never had an appearance in another game until MK7, Lakitu, who is supposed to be the referee of the mario Kart series, and a carbon copy of Mario with a metal coat of paint. well, everything! Series staple characters such as Waluigi, and fan favorites such as Dry Bones were absent from the roster. Moving on, the roster was noticeably lacking in terms of. MKDS had one, and hell, even Super Circuit, which came out 10 YEARS before MK7, had a single player vs mode. It’s excusable when a console mario Kart doesn’t have a vs mode, as you’re going to be sitting down and playing for a while, rather than picking up and playing when you want to. When you’re on the go, and are only playing races in short periods when you have free time, you’d probably want to play some of your favorite courses, or select the shorter ones because you don’t have enough time. For a handheld Mario Kart, this is not good. For starters, there was no single player VS Mode. As a result of this, MK7 was noticeably lacking content and polish. ![]() Yep, MK7 was rushed out because Nintendo needed to sell 3DS systems. That’s great and all, but it came at a cost. (Which is my favorite of the series if you haven’t read my last opinionated post.) It released in the 3DS’ first year on the market, and its thought to have helped the 3DS sell more units when it was failing and desperately needed good games. So, Mario Kart 7 released in 2011, 6 years after the last portable MK game, Mario Kart DS. ![]()
